North End Waterfront  Celebrating Bostonrsquos Affordable Housing Funding Grants at North Endrsquos Knights of Columbus Event

It was a good day for affordable housing efforts in the City of Boston as hundreds of new units were funded throughout the city at a celebratory event held in the North End. Mayor Walsh and local officials gathered at the Knights of Columbus building at 41 N. Margin Street, the future site of 23 new senior affordable housing units.

The City announced $26 million in funding across 10 projects for 515 affordable housing units and deed-restricted homes in Brighton, East Boston, Dorchester, Mattapan, Mission Hill, North End and Roxbury. The North End project is receiving of $1.96 million from Community Preservation Act funding.

In addition to Mayor Walsh, speaking at the event were Al Caldarelli of the East Boston Community Development Corp., Victor Brogna from the North End / Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) and Sheila Dillon, Boston’s Chief of Housing and Director of the Department of Neighborhood Development.
