The Boston Herald - Boston Wants Links of Red and Blue Lines Back on Track
Thursday, October 18, 2018
City officials are urging the MBTA to get a move on with the long-discussed Red Line-Blue Line connector, which may cost significantly less than originally believed.
“I want it yesterday,” City Councilor Lydia Edwards, whose district includes much of the area along the Blue Line, told the Herald. “There’s no confusion that this would help some of our traffic woes.”
The Blue Line, which runs from downtown up through East Boston into Revere, is the system’s shortest and least-busy line — and the only one that doesn’t connect to the crowded Red Line, which serves as a major north-south artery from the South Shore, through Dorchester and downtown and up into Cambridge and beyond.
